We spent some of our family day working outside yesterday. The weather was mild and perfect for gardening. After a trip to the co-op for supplies we ventured into the backyard and one of the few rain-less days of late. I had started some Scarlet Runner Beans a few months ago and they really needed to get into the ground. Tyson tilled the garden and I got to work raising up a row and installing a stick & string trellis for them to climb.
After planting, I covered everything with a mesh tent to protect them from the cold weather that we’ve been having.
I have high hopes even though these were aching to get into the ground for a while (and I caught my 5 year old and her friend ‘feeding’ them with undiluted plant food a week or two ago). I hope at least half of them will survive and be fruitful (or veggieful)!
